CARRIE  J. LIN
ARTIST'S STATEMENT & GOALS

Carrie with Koi painting

Being an outdoor painter, I am often inspired by the colorful and magnificent sunsets, or the sparkle of ice on the trees after a storm.  My goal is not only to capture the beauty in front of me, but also convey the mood of that moment, to share the feeling of being  there with the viewer.

Watercolor and pastels are my primary painting mediums.  I use watercolor for its fluidity and spontaneity, and pastels for it's immediacy & brilliant colors.

Influenced by the simplicity and beauty of Chinese paintings, one of my goals is to paint with minimal brush strokes to suggest and convey the mood and the beauty of nature.
